Well, this was always going to come up in the discussion.

The cost of services is a sensitive issue for any client.

How much can I afford?

Will my computer be better?

What will I learn?

Is it worth my money?

Maybe I can fix it or learn it by myself?

All of these are reasonable questions and things you should keep in mind when seeking assistance.

Techfriends has a number of pricing packages which we believe meet most needs. (If you are on a Commonwealth benefit, please see the last entry at the bottom)

Online sessions

If you have Yuuguu installed, we are then able to access your computer over the Internet.

As this means we save time and money in travelling costs, the prices are lower.

Each session is charged by the half hour (or part thereof) at $20 per half hour. (Prices for unemployed and retired persons are the same, though they are charged at half hour rather than hourly)

However, you will have to prepay the session via paypal or direct deposit.

Please contact us first if you would like to arrange training or support via Yuuguu.

In many instances, people prefer to meet us first before using Yuuguu. This is completely understandable as with Yuuguu you are allowing someone complete access to your computer.

Computer (and other device) hardware and software-related assistance and repairs

We charge $50 for the first hour (or part) followed by $25 per half-hour (or part thereof).

This does not include parts, for which we will provide you with the original receipts of purchase.

Unless we have a part available, we charge a $10 fee for obtaining and delivering the parts required. This is in addition to the cost of the part/s involved.

We can also inform you of the part required and you can then determine whether you wish to purchase it for Techfriend to install.

Alternatively, we can show you how to install the part. This way you can repair your own machine in the future!

You may think this strange - that we would want to show you how to NOT need us and we would agree that it can be seen this way. However, at Techfriend we believe in helping you to better understand your computer and other devices and how they work.

It's seen as all part of the service!

In-home software training

The first visit is $50 for the first hour (or part), with any following sessions charged at $25 per half-hour (or part thereof).

There is a cheaper rate for those who are unemployed or retired. Please see the bottom of this page.

These sessions can include up to two people for the one price. This means it will cost you the same for one child or adult as it would for two  - so you can share the cost between your kids or between you and a friend.

Just remember though - you are sharing time as well as cost.

In-home small group sessions

You may want to invite a few friends and or children to a session and this is something we are perfectly happy to accomodate.

With these sessions, you can invite up to five people to share the time and cost.

These sessions are charged at $20 per person per hour, with a minimum fee of $60 per hour.

Pre-booked block sessions

This is the cheapest package. With pre-booked sessions, you get a discount on session fees reducing each session to $40 per hour (or part).

A minimum of four sessions is required to form a block and must be paid in advance.

This means that you can buy four blocks at $40 costing you $160. Compare this to buying one  session at $50 and then three further hours at $50 per hour. The total cost here would be $200.

Buying sessions in blocks saves you $40 or 20%.

Large group sessions

These sessions suit community groups (such as clubs, cubs, scouts, youth groups etc) who want to provide some training at a cheaper price.

Large group sessions start at a minimum fee of $100 per hour. This covers up to 10 people. Additional people can be included at a fee of $10 per person per hour.

These sessions can either be arranged at a venue of your choosing, or one provided by Techfriend.

If Techfriend provide the venue an extra fee of $30 per hour is charged.

Given the level of preparation required, some discussion will need to take place between Techfriend and the organiser. As long as the amount of time taken is extensive, no additional fee is charged.

If you are interested in arranging a large group session, please contact us either by phone or e-mail sufficiently in advance of the date you are considering.

Training for those who receive an unemployment benefit or who are retired and receiving a commonwealth pension

People on a benefit can invite up to two other people to a session and the fee will be $40 per hour in total (which can be split between the three people). However, this will be charged per hour or part thereof (there is no half-hour fee).

For groups of four or more, the fee is $10 per person per hour or part thereof.

When considering the option of having a group session, please remember that you will not each receive an hour of individual training. Like a class room, there will be one trainer to cover everyones interests and needs.

The best thing to do is to discuss with us first what you would like to focus on and we can then arrive with the material or information required.

The upside is that group training is more fun*, you get to have your friends or family present and after the session you can help each other to remember and practice what you learned.

When arranging training, inform us of your eligibility first. Then once you show proof of your benefit when we arrive for a session, we will change the fee structure.

Please note that Yuuguu sessions are charged by the half-hour.

*Bikkies and coffee/tea is something you will have to bring :)

If you have any questions about this, please do not hesitate to contact us.
